Let [x] and {x} respectively denote the integer and fractional part of of a real number x. If {n} + {3n}=1.4, find the sum of all possible values of 100{n}.

(A) 180           (B) 145                (C) 85      (d) 102

    Please tell me if it is right?
    I did trial and error.
    1st i got .85 and then using options i got .6 too.
    Is there any specific approach?

  2. The answer is correct.. There is a specific approach.. divide the interval from 0 to 1 into three parts of 1/3.. I hope the hint gives you a fair idea.
